Facebook's Podcast Page Feature

Update: Facebook is no longer offering this feature. Sad, we know! Read why they stopped this feature for business pages here.

Putting the most popular social media platform and the most popular audio content together seems like a no-brainer, right? So what took so long to create Facebook’s podcast page feature?!

Facebook’s recent podcast page feature finally combines the two worlds together. If you aren’t on board, you may get left behind.

When you add your podcast to your Facebook business page using your public podcast RSS feed, people can listen to, discuss and share your episodes directly on Facebook. The best part? It’s totally free.

On top of connecting with your audience, using Facebook means you are now more accessible to new listeners. This is due to their built-in algorithms. Maintaining your listeners and gaining new listeners has literally never been easier.

Facebook also offers a complete suite of analytics. You get plenty of new features to help you identify how well your podcast is performing. Additionally, there are endless opportunities to take your followers off the podcast and entertain them elsewhere. Facebook groups and messenger groups are great for this!!

Here are the fool-proof steps you need to take to connect your podcast to your Facebook business page:

  1. Be sure you have a Facebook Business Page created. Log in, click “create a page,” and fill out the necessary areas including your show’s name and a description.
  2. Complete the profile by adding photos. Then, optimize your SEO by doing keyword research so people can find your page through searching on Facebook.
  3. Connect your show! Go into the settings on your page manager, click “Podcasts,” “Add podcast,” then entering your RSS feed. This will allow listeners to stream your podcast on Facebook from your chosen hosting platform. This will also require a few authentication steps to prove you’re the owner.

After you add your podcast to your Page, news feed posts will be automatically generated for episodes published 2 weeks before the date you opt-in and all episodes going forward. All episodes will be posted by your Page on your Podcasts tab!

Since this is a fairly new feature, only time will tell how quickly it takes off. However, if you like staying one step ahead, we recommend that you take advantage of this feature ASAP! Plus, it’s safe to say that Facebook or podcasting isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and this is the perfect opportunity to be one of the first to use the feature.

Whether you’re just getting started in the podcast game or you are a seasoned podcaster, getting in on the ground floor of the latest technologies and, more importantly, social media engagement opportunities is a great way to take off and grow your show.
